Today is Texas Tuesday… and tomorrow is National Chocolate Cake Day! So, let’s make a chocolate cake!
Not just any old chocolate cake but a Chocolate Upside Down Cake. I had never heard of such a thing and had definitely never tasted one until I stumbled upon this beauty in Ms Koock’s The Texas Cookbook.
It’s National Popcorn Day! AND Texas Tuesday… so naturally, I made a Texas flag out of colored popcorn. That is what everyone does, right?
It’s Texas Tuesday y’all… and I got a Texas shaped waffle iron for my birthday last year!!! I like waffles but I’m not a huge fan of breakfast food so upon receiving this amazing gift… that I had adamantly “requested”… I started researching different things to cook in a waffle iron. And then I found… brownies
and the search was pretty much over.
A few months ago… upon celebrating 2 years of Photo Wagon fun… I talked about plans of “bringing Sugar Derby back”. The desire was there and the intent was good but I couldn’t quite figure out how to make the whole thing work…. to make it cohesive with Photo Wagon.
And then it happened!!!!!
As some of you may or may not know… before Photo Wagon existed I had a cute little baking blog called Sugar Derby. That baking blog eventually turned into Sugar Derby Mobile… which was the vintage resale shop I started inside Lady Bird… which eventually turned into Photo Wagon. Make sense?!?!
Sugar Derby baking blog —> Sugar Derby Vintage Finds —> Sugar Derby Mobile Shop —> Photo Wagon
Anyway… now that I have found Lady Bird’s true destiny, Photo Wagon… duh… I really wanted to start writing about baking again. Sugar Derby was so much fun… and somehow gained quite a following. Because the site is completely gone…(tear)…. I can’t access any of my past posts… but I did a google search and found lots of my images that had been reused, “pinned”, etc. It was so good to see those babies again.
Here are a few of my most popular posts….
Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries
I’ve never claimed to originate this recipe… but I think maybe I originated this recipe. Just sayin’.
Gender Reveal Cookies
These were a HUGE hit when the whole gender reveal thing started. It was literally just a cake ball with food coloring, coated in chocolate and stuffed inside a chocolate chip cookie. Yummmmmmmmm. And also….. Surprise!
Peach Cobbler Cone
How was I the first to think of this? You just make peach cobbler, cram it into a waffle cone… while it’s warm… and then top with a scoop of ice cream. LIFE CHANGING.
And then we have Miniature Monday…
OH, Miniature Monday! For a solid year, I made a miniature, edible food item and posted it on Monday. And it was glorious. Tiny food you guys…. TINY FOOD.
I can’t wait to get back in the kitchen and start baking again!
I will be sharing everything HERE on the Photo Wagon site. Full circle, my friend, full circle. So many sugar, butter and egg pictures to be taken!
